Dear Members,

As some of you may be aware our lease is due to expire at the end of July and we have recently undergone a rental review with Bournemouth University. The outcome of this review has meant that Martin and I have had to seriously consider whether it would be viable to continue with a significant rental increase as well as £5000 utility surcharge.
After much consideration we have decided to commit to a further 2 years. However in order to continue we will need your support more than ever as we would like the club not just to survive but to thrive!

Firstly I’m afraid the court fees will be going up slightly to help with the rental increase.

As part of our plan to continue, we recognise that the courts are in need of refurbishment and we have a plan to raise the funds needed to carry out the work. We plan to organise a series of tournaments, competitions and social events including an auction and raffle (more information regarding these events to follow soon).

We have contacted a contractor for a quote and each court will cost £375 + VAT to sand. The replastering of the front wall on court 2 will cost £1500 + VAT and the sanding and repainting of the side walls will cost £750 + VAT per court. It is a substantial amount to raise but we would love to see the courts restored to the high standards we have always tried to maintain. If anyone is in a position to help, there are a few ways in which we could use your support…
Tasha will be collecting prize donations for the auction and raffle, we already have some exciting prizes lined up which we will announce closer to the time. Please see her if you would like to donate a prize. Additionally if you are able to make a cash donation, this can be done by bank transfer (using the reference: Court Donation) into our account:
Squash Services
30-96-73
00672500
We recognise that these are tough times so any and all donations will be gratefully received!

And thirdly we have to tighten our belt to keep the club going so we ask again that if you have to cancel a booking for any reason, be it a normal booking or a lesson, that you give us at least 24 hours notice so that we have the opportunity to re-let the court.

We thank you for your continued support over the past 36 years and here’s to the next chapter!

Kind regards,
Julie & Martin
